The Mosaic guide to Protecting your hair from heat!

These tools are great for making you look and feel fabulous, however can cause damage if the right protections are not used. When you apply heat to your hair, the high temperatures can weaken the hair's natural proteins (some hair straighteners can go up to 230°C!). Over time, repeated heat styling without protection can cause irreversible damage, leaving your hair looking lifeless and unhealthy.

Luckily, you’re in the right place! This is where heat protectors come in. You may know a little about them, or even use them already, but not know all the facts. Not only are they essential products that will prevent breakage but they also reduce moisture loss, smooth those pesky flyaways and overall promote healthy hair.

So, what products are out there? And how can you best use them?

Melu Hair Shield

Ideal for protecting all types of hair from stress caused by straighteners or blow dryers

How to use: On towel dried hair, apply 5-10 sprays. Then comb through and follow with your desired styling products.

Oi Milk

Multi-Functional / Heat Protection / Shine / Helps Combing / Hydrating

A multi-function leave-in spray treatment that softens, detangles, controls frizz and protects the hair from heat.

How to use: Apply 10-15 sprays to washed, towel-dried hair. Do not rinse, and proceed with styling. Can also be used as a moisturising finish on dry hair - spray directly on the hands and distribute evenly through the hair.

No.7 Bonding Oil

Shine / Heat protection / Strengthening / Anti Breakage

This product is a game changer. It not only boosts shine, softness and colour vibrancy but also repairs, strengthens hair, reduces breakage and restores healthier-looking hair. Heat protection up to 232°C.

How to use: Add 2-3 drops to damp or dry hair. Add more as needed. Style as desired.

SU Hair Milk

UV Protection / Nourishment / Helps Combing

It’s important to protect our hair from UV as we would our skin. This leave-in softening milk is enriched with UV protective filters that protect cosmetic colour and hydration during sun exposure. It keeps the hair soft, light and combable.

How to use: As a protection product: during sun exposure apply to lengths and ends on dry or wet hair.

As a leave-on conditioner: after shampooing, spray all over the hair and comb to distribute the product evenly. Do not rinse.

This is a Blow Dry Primer

Texture / Heat Protection / Moisture Resistant

This is a leave-in spray that primes hair for a perfect blowdry. It serves as a heat protectant spray, an anti-humidity barrier and a shine-enhancer, reducing styling time.

How to use: Spray from 5 to 20 pumps on wet or towel-dried hair from roots to lengths and ends.

The great thing about these products is that they can be used in unison, giving you the perfect combo of heat protection and hair enhancing goodness.
