You may be aware that it's mental health awareness week. Why am I mentioning this I hear you say....?
Well being hairdressers, we understand that the service we offer is not just about how short we cut your hair. People often share their personal thoughts and emotions with us, and we recognise that coming to the salon means different things to different people. It can be a time to talk, a time to sit quietly or a bit of an indulgence - to zone out of the issue of the day.
I recognise in myself that I love being with people. It keeps my mood positive, gives me energy and the feeling of support and friendship. However, I also know that I sometimes need a bit of time to myself. Whether it's going for a walk, getting my nails done or simply sitting watching TV, it gives me the opportunity to declutter my mind and put things in order.
So.... what I wanted to say is.... If you're having one of "those days", don't be afraid to tell us you'd like to sit quietly. We're always happy to chat but equally we're never offended if you want a quiet visit. We won't ask you to explain yourself and we'll just focus on what we love doing, your hair. We will be safe in the knowledge that it's nothing personal and that we're giving you the time and space that you want.
Our chosen charity this year is "Mind" supporting mental health and wellbeing in the local community. Through dealings with them we've learnt that there are many things that can affect our mental health. Healthy eating, regular exercise, plenty of sleep and finding time to connect with others can all make a big difference to how we feel each day.
We like to think that you see a trip to Mosaic as one of things that has a positive affect on your mental health and that we are here for you.
